This image of a knight astride his horse - both in full regalia, golds and reds - is balanced and softened by the graceful, yielding strength of the forest.
I have been scribbling, drawing and painting for as long as I can remember. At age seven I was found with a full set of Avon lipstick samples, creating a mural on the freshly painted white clapboard of our family home…….
I still enjoy oil sticks, (colour, texture) and the large variety of available “crayon/ lipstick” style media. I have extended my media to include a variety of inks, pastels, graphite sticks, coloured pencils, acrylic and oil paints. Recently I have been working with cold wax medium and oil paint. The pleasure in this work begins with choosing a medium and simply responding to a sight or emotion with free mark-making on a surface.
My style of work has moved from highly realistic – to Impressionist style garden paintings and now to abstraction, painting and expressing what “is not readily seen”.
I want to develop as an artist (larger pieces, series, collage) and hope that people will continue to enjoy the representations of what I have found in life – that even in darker moments, with attention, there can be found great beauty, joy and light.
