Brittany Moore
Bio
Brittany Moore is an award winning emerging artist based in Kingston Ontario who paints paradoxical portraits that explore an alternate state of self. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in Physical and Health Education, she then went on to complete her teaching degree, both from Queen’s University. Following graduation, Brittany went straight to Germany to continue her basketball career at the professional level for three seasons.
Through years of travel and career exploration, she decided to pursue a life driven by passion and creativity. Brittany is inspired by people and their journey through life. She strongly believes that through the beauty of human connection we can begin to appreciate the complexities within each of us. That we can see to observe, rather than see to judge and compare.
Artist Statement
I paint to see and understand the infinitesimal nuances of the human story. Working my way beneath the surface of a subject, through the gradual process of portraiture, unique complexities begin to unveil themselves. Through consistency or paradox, a connection begins to form in the most unpredictable ways. I’m driven by the puzzle.
White is commonly thought of as a symbol of purity, cleanliness and innocence. Too much white on the other hand may signify coldness, surrender and fear. How you feel in a surrounding pigment of white is personal and individual.
White was never her colour.
