This is a departure for me: applying my usual represenational approach to the focus point but applying it to a more abstract background.

I wanted this piece to celebrate the power of red: evocative of a condition that suggests heightened energy, vivacity and celebration... evoking those responses by the use of sweeping lines of colour that suggest energy and movement and zest: life-blood, traffic lights, sporting scarlet-painted nails and dancing to a swing band in red heels in a red frothy dress...

Ravishing Raspberry Reds

I was pretty much born with a crayon in my hand...as a child I was a compulsive "draw-er" ... to get my hands on a clean sheet of paper or the white cardboard insert from my mum's panty hose package was the most thrilling part of my day and called to me to disapper into my own world...

That passion for drawing and painting has never left and over the course of my lifetime and iI've managed to introduce some form of visual creativity into every job I've had, even when computer programming I was able to approach the function and flow of the processes by visualizing the interactions as patterns and movement and 'colour'.

Over the years I've painted murals, provided graphic design & Illustration services, designed interactive learning modules and taught art, as well as exploring drypoint printing, which I love.

Now. I paint for fun, joy and to explore what I can do well and learn from what I can't.
