RED, a colour that is always on my palette, including the earthy red iron oxides, the naphthol reds competing with the cadmiums, alizarin crimson and its many cousins, and other luscious red pigments, all add  punch and excitement to a painting.

A show called "RED" is enough to conjure up scenes of power, fire, blood, all while stimulating our raw instincts.

My fine art/graphic arts/ fine crafts careers have spanned 50 years. My path has been unconventional and convoluted with each step a foundation to the next. With over 8000 drawings, paintings, illustrations & designs, and with work as a seamstress, sports referee, athlete, coach, fine crafts including jewellery, pottery, textiles, silkscreen printer, woodworking, science lab tech and other experiences have all helped to make me a better painter today. My awareness of how fabric behaves, how the human body moves, how to experiment and do research, an understanding of the composition of a painting, limitations and possibilities with various materials, and most of all, to not be afraid. This humble red painting is possible due to this history.
